Mark A. Cline, M.D.
Dr. Cline is a board certified Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and has been in private practice as a family physician in Nacogdoches since finishing his residency training in 1997.
Dr. Cline graduated near the top of his class from the University of Texas Medical School of Texas in 1994. He was elected president of the Alpha Omega Alpha national honor medical society while a student there. He then spent three years at the Baylor affiliated Waco Family Practice Residency in Waco, Tx. where he was trained in pediatrics and adult medicine, both inpatient and outpatient. He served as Chief Resident during his third year.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Cline has also been a longtime teaching proctor of Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and medical students in his office and has been recognized as an outstanding teacher for his efforts. He is a member of the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, Nacogdoches-San Augustine Medical Society, American Academy of Family Physicians, and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
Dr. Cline and his wife, Becky, met during their college years at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches and are SFA alumni. They are blessed with four children: Hannah Cline Carlton (married to Dusty), Ben, Eric, and Sarah. They are all fortunate to enjoy time together (the older three are “out of the nest”, but still live in Texas). Dr. Cline also enjoys the outdoors and personal fitness.
Laura Briggs, ACNP-BC
Laura C. Briggs, ACNP-BC was born and raised in Shreveport-Bossier. Her father is a pulmonary critical doctor in Louisiana. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BSN from Northwestern State University of Louisiana in 2007. Laura has worked as an inpatient dialysis nurse before becoming an ICU nurse at a level one trauma center for 5 years.
In 2013, Laura graduated with a Master’s of Science in Nursing. She is ANCC board certified as an acute care nurse practitioner. She has worked in internal medicine for one year. Laura moved to Desoto Parish/Logansport area about 12 ½ years ago. She currently lives in Joaquin with her 6 year old daughter. She is involved in her church and feels her faith, family and friends are the most important parts of her life. She has a passion for delivering high quality personalized health care. She says “I feel honored and it is a privilege to serve the same community I live in.”
Candace Carter, FNP-C
Candace Carter, FNP-C is a 2006 graduate of Shelbyville ISD. She received her BSN from The University of Texas at Tyler in 2008 and a Master’s of Science in Nursing Administration from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2012. Candace has worked as an RN in ICU for 5 years throughout the U.S. including Tyler and Plano, TX, Tulsa, OK, Tucson, AZ, and travel assignments to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD, and MD Anderson in Houston, TX. She returned to East Texas in 2013 to begin teaching at Stephen F. Austin State University and currently teaches the critical care course.
Candace received a Post Masters FNP Certification from the University of South Alabama in 2016. She is AANP board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is currently working towards her Doctorate in Nursing Practice. She states “My faith and family have inspired me to serve others. It is great to be back home and have the opportunity to work at Cline Family Medicine serving my hometown.” She enjoys traveling, CrossFit, and spending time with family and friends.
